Sarah Couture McPhail is a multidisciplinary community artist and mastercrafter. Her skills include digital arts, photography, embroidery, painting, printmaking, knitting, textiles, and ceramics. She is a graduate of Central Tech's Adult Fine Art Program and is a founding member of The Soft City Collective. With them she has workshopped and displayed work at An Honest Farewell, AGO, Power Plant, Come Up to My Room, OCAD, the CNE, Flux Factory in NYC, Doors Open, Alley Jaunt. Her solo work has appeared with the Ontario Artist Society, Black Cat Artspace, and Art Square Gallery.
Sarah has a keen interest in inclusive collaborative arts projects that encourage people to examine their surroundings and get reacquainted with dormant skills. She believes that art is a powerful tool in facilitating the creation and building of community and social change.
Her personal professional practice centres projects that grapple with evolving colonial identities, family legacy, and secrets.
Sarah currently overseas a residency program that includes a variety of disciplines at Sketch Working Arts in Toronto.
